The 31th Territory Freshwater Fly Fishing Open is being held on Saturday and Sunday 29-30 April 2023.

Each year the Darwin Flyrodders hosts the Territory Freshwater Fly Fishing Open using the iconic Corroboree Billabong which has over 50 kilometres of navigable waters.

The premier species targeted are Barramundi and Saratoga, with others such as Tarpon, Sleepy Cod, Longtoms, Catfish also eligible for points for length. The premier species earn double points.

Camp is based at the Corroboree Park Tavern on the Arnhem Highway, a short 15 minute drive to the launching ramp.  The competition is held on the first weekend in May and takes advantage of the NT May Day long weekend. Teams of two people.

Accommodation is available at Corroboree Park Tavern who are wonderful sponsors of Darwin Flyrodders.  Accommodation options include and include

  • family cabin (two rooms) - air conditioned 
  • container rooms (double) - air conditioned 
  • pub rooms/nurses quarters (double or singles) - air conditioned demountables 
  • camping.

The competition brief will be held on Friday at 8pm with fishing times Saturday 7am - 5pm (scores in), Sunday 7am - 1pm (scores in), final presentation on Sunday afternoon

Meals and presentations are provided by the Club, as well as great prizes and a competition shirt (when ordered by cut-off date).
