The Darwin Flyrodders cub provides a supportive environment for members and newcomers to experience fly fishing. The majority of members are experienced fly fishers who are generous with their knowledge and actively support and promote raising the profile of the club and growing membership through positive community engagement.

The sport of fly fishing has been active in the Northern Territory (NT) since the early eighties. The Saltwater Flyrodders of the NT, was the first fly fishing club in the NT.  In 2000 the formation of the new club of the Darwin Flyrodders was created.

Since the club's inauguration, we continue to convene the two premier fly-fishing competitions, the Saltwater Challenge and the Freshwater Fly Fishing Open and organises other club member activities including the Top Ten Species Competition.

Darwin Flyrodders:

  • provide a recreational/social club for the Northern Territory Community to share advice and experiences in the sport of fly fishing
  • promote, foster and encourage the sport of fly fishing, fly tying and fly casting within the Northern Territory community

  • promote, foster and encourage the further development of the sport of fly fishing, fly tying and fly casting through the participation of our youth

The NT has a diverse fishery that presents many opportunities for fresh and saltwater fly fishing for beginner and experienced anglers.

Meetings: Our club meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the Month at the Palmerston Game Fishing Club, 28 Catalina Road, Marlow Lagoon NT.
