The next Darwin Flyrodders Club Outing is scheduled for the Darwin Show long weekend of 24th-26th July at Mardugal Billabong. Please register for this event so we can keep an eye out for you when you arrive.

Timetable
ô  Muster at Mardugal campground anytime you want.

ô  You are responsible for your own camping fees

What to bring
ô  The camp has plenty of facilities including fireplaces, toilets, water and hot showers. Gagadju Cooinda is not far away for fuel, food and other supplies.
ô  The campground caters for generators but you have to be in the authorised areas.
ô  The boat ramp is perfect and in the campground. You will have access to Mardugal, Home and Jim Jim billabongs. Maybe to Yellow Waters but it depends on the water level. You could always drive to the Yellow Waters ramp only about 8 kms away.
ô  Main target species in the billabong are Barra and Toga. Habitat covers pretty much everything you would expect; pandanus, lillies/lotus, snags, deep holes, steep banks, shallow creek entries and extensive weed-beds.

Getting There By Car
ô  Departing Darwin take the Stuart Highway south to the Arnhem Highway. Head out to Kakadu National Park. A few kilometres short of Jabiru turn right onto the Kakadu Highway. The Marudgal campground is signposted about 50 kilometres south.
ô  Travel time about 3 ½ hours from Darwin.
ô  Remember all fish count for the annual Top-Ten and Champion Angler Competitions and you also get a bonus 100 points for attending a club outing.

27th Territory Saltwater Fly Fishing Challenge (TSWFFC) (18/09/2026)

The 27th Territory Saltwater Flyfishing Challenge is a fun and challenging fly fishing contest is held in the fish rich waters of Bynoe Harbour. This vast natural harbour, with its myriad of fishing options, is a fly fishing haven. There are ample mud flats that provide outstanding run-off sight fishing opportunities. The usual rocky outcrops, islands, creeks and tidal estuaries provide numerous surface and deep water fly fishing challenges.

This catch and release tournament focuses on seven target species including Barramundi, Salmon, Tarpon, Queenfish, Trevally, Mackerel and Snapper. The Challenge is to land all of the 7 species in one day.

The competition is based at Sandpalms Roadhouse Tropical Motel, Bynoe. Meals, evening entertainment and presentations are provided by the Darwin Flyrodders, as well as great prizes and a competition shirt.

The competition brief will be held on Thursday at 8pm with fishing times Friday & Saturday 7am - 5pm (scores in), Sunday 7am - 1pm (scores in), final presentation at 3pm Sunday.
